UPDATES
So many things to update...so, here we go...
16 May 2008 : Nina celebrated her 15th birthday (along with my Dad who is now 66 years young). She didn't feel like celebrating, so, I just baked some cookies for her to share with her friends and teachers since it was also Teacher's Day. Over the weekend we had a family gathering cum birthday party at home for her, my dad and Farah who was turning 10 on 20 May 2008.
20 May 2008 : Farah celebrated her first 2-digit-birthday. The weekend after her birthday, I organized a bowling party for her and her friends from school.
18 May 2008 : My husband graduated and came back for good on 28 May 2008. It was such a great relief for me and my kids included. Congratulations to hubby/dad for a job well done. We were so proud of you!
2 June 2008 : I started working after six years home. The job is ok but my hours are a little crazy because I have to work three Saturdays or Sundays in a month and sometimes on public holidays! I am a little rusty though after all these years...Thanks to my office colleagues for your support and help...
2 June 2008 : Adam went to the day-care for the very first time. I was a little nervous because he had never been with anybody else before. So, to give me a peace of mind at work I made sure the teacher call in case Adam did not behave or cry. Thank God he was OK! His favourite thing to do is playing with his buddy, Adam Senior...
I'll be busy the next few weekends since I'll be moving into my house. A lot of things are not in place yet actually. I have boxes to open, kitchen cabinet to fix, bla...bla...bla...So, till next time, check out the pictures from the birthday parties and my hubby's graduation.
Bye now!

SOME EARLY PICTURES
Hello friends!
It feels like ages since I last updated this fp. I forgot to mention earlier that I arrived home on Dec 26th of last year. I am still pretty busy especially with the girls that need help with their school work, the school clothes and shoes that needs handwashing, the ironing and the always handful little precious Adam to top everything else. Quite frankly, the transition is no easy task for me and the kids.
Both my girls have been in school for a month now but are still adjusting. Nina is currently getting help after school to improve her Malay and she also gets tuition at home for the other subjects to prepare herself for the PMR Exam at the end of the year. She was and is still having a hard time with the school because she felt way behind as far as the syllabus is concerned and her Malay is not good either. Hopefully with these extra help that she gets now, she will believe in herself again and give it her best shot.
As for Farah, her UPSR Exam is not until 2010, so, she has three more years to get ready. At the moment she also goes for Malay Language tuition and at home I try to help her as much as I can with the other subjects.
So, this has been my life so far. It is challenging but I guess I have to take it easy and not beat myself up. I hope and pray things will get better as time goes by....

FINAL NIGHT AND DAY IN THE U.S
This is it...I will be leaving in a few hours...
My last few days here have been filled with invitations by friends who wanted to see me for the last time. I feel so touched by everyone's kindness and generosity. My friend Rima is no exception too. Last night which was also our final night we were at her house for dinner. She called early yesterday morning and we agreed to go because I was almost done with packing.
My friend Rima is a good cook and so is her husband. She and Nazmul made beef bona (I think it was in Bangole), chicken biryani, mixed vegetables, samosa and salad to go with rice and bread. They were really yummy.... She also served tea and dessert after dinner. We stayed for about two hours since I had already told my friend Dawn that I was going to come around 9:30ish. We celebrated her birthday at my house sometime ago and I wanted her to give some pictures to her.
The wind was really picking up when we left. We reached Dawn's house close to 10:00 p.m. and she had given the girls and I some gifts to bring home. I love the pictures of us that she made into collage. I thought it was really lovely. Adam was geting cranky at that time, so, we decided to leave early because it was already past his bedtime.
All of us had a good cry before we left. It was truly a sad moment for everyone....
Thank you to Rima and Dawn...I will always remember you both.
| Quote: | | Thanks everyone for dropping by and for the wishes. Salam perkenalan to Nini. I've been extremely busy since I came home. It's beyond crazy. I'm also without a husband and a car and not to mention two girls and a baby to look after. Luckily my dad is here to take me around. The driving in JB is also crazy unlike in Buffalo and my Malaysian driving license has recently expired and I haven't got the time to renew it yet plus other stuff. A lot of things happenned, some pleasant and some unpleasant. I'll update when I have the time. Although the kids are at school already, something new always comes up every day...but I just think of today and not worry about tomorrow...that's pretty much my life right now...I'm staying with my parents till my husband comes back. |

Last Friday was Farah's and Nina's last day of school in the U.S. We surprised Farah at school around noon and she was thrilled to see us. Unfortunately we could not do the same for Nina because she changed class every period. At school, we took pictures with Farah's homeroom teacher and her classmates. Her teacher asked us to stay until dismissal as they were going to play some games and have refreshments but we had errands to run. So, we stayed about half an hour to see them play bingo. It was a sad day for Farah (and Nina as well) but us coming to school helped her go through the day with more ease....

GOING TO KATHY'S
Kathy (Christina's Mom) and I sat together during Nina's concert and while we were talking she invited Nina and I to dinner at her house last Wednesday. She said to come at 4:00 p.m. but I was running a bit late and Christina called when we were on the way out. Earlier that day Nina and her school band played at Roswell Park (Cancer Institute) for its' patients and she was feeling kind of tired when I asked her to get ready. So, I apologized for being fifteen minutes late...
We sat down in her warm kitchen and Kathy served us pasta, sauce and garlic bread. We ate and talked mostly about life here and home, the girls and other interesting stuff. I am going to miss her a lot especially her warm personality.
Thank you Kathy for having us and for the delicious dinner....

FARAH'S WINTER CONCERT
Tuesday 12/18/07...It was Farah's first time ever participating in her school concert and she was beaming when her dad took her pictures on the stage that night. Basically I was very happy for her for this opportunity but the thought that it was going to be her last one too made me tear up the moment she and the fourth grade band started playing. After the concert, Farah's band teacher (who also gives private lessons to her since school began) saw us and said we cannot leave because Farah is a gifted musician. I was so proud to hear that...Well done Farah!
Oh yes! Thanks to Angie, my neighbor who came to see Farah perform on such a short notice...

AT GULSHEN'S
With my Turkish friend Gulshen
It was a coincident. I bumped into Gulshen or rather my kids spotted Gulshen when were coming out from BJ's this past Saturday. Gulshen is a good friend of mine and she used to live by me here in Kensington Village Apartment but she moved close to the university area about two years ago. Since then, I haven't seen her a lot but we did call each other once in a while. When we talked a while ago she invited me to come to her house whenever I'm free but I've been busy with Adam and the girls' activities. So, that day I took the oppportunity to ask her out for morning coffee sometime this week. Instead she asked me to come over to her house last Monday. Gulshen is a good baker and she made good breads. She served me tea with cookies and some kind of puffs with cheese inside and they were so good!!! I had to leave at 2:00 p.m. because Nina was coming home from school at 2:50 p.m and I wanted to make sure I was home before she did...
Gulshen, if you read this, I am glad that I managed to spend some time with you before my departure.
Thank you for having me at your house and for the lovely gift....I'll always remember you in my prayer...and good luck with your work in the Turkish community...
